The "Larry O'Neill" Memorial Challenge Hurling match

St.Malaghys Portadown Vs East Belfast GAA.

Always good to remember influencers who through their passion and enthusiasm bring people along with them, such was Larry O'Neill he was one of the driving forces for the establishment of an Irish language school Bunscoil Eoin Baiste in Portadown. Larry Played in the championship winning teams in the 1960s and was brokenhearted when the club folded due to lack of interest. He would be proud to see the club he loved back after years in the wilderness playing senior hurling. So todays match is against an unlikely opponent "East Belfast GAA" formed in 2020 they are playing GAA games on 3 fronts Gaelic football, Hurling and Camogie indeed such is the popularity of the women's version that the male hurling team have to launder their skips so the ladies can have a strip to play in. So two culturally polarised places in N.Ireland bucking the trend ...... we are looking forward to the return Match up in East Belfast on the 26th September 2020.

Check out the Hi-lights from the first half!!
